Trophy Axis 34+
Axis deer originated in the Himalayans in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and typically roam the open parklands and grassy areas near rivers and other sources of water. Also known as Chital Deer, they were introduced to Texas in 1932 They now thrive in Texas, so much so that they are now considered an invasive species, freely roaming the Texas flatlands and grazing on the variety of grasses. This is great news for hunters, making it is open season year ‘round with no bag limit. May through September tends to be the best time to take a trophy Axis, but there are full-racked bucks year ‘round.
